For the first time in nearly two years I have an idea of where my future will lead. It's been a long layoff, but yesterday was a good day. I am going to be working as a Land Surveyor again. I'll be starting with a different company and part time at the moment, but hopefully a full time gig come spring. Surveying - that's what I do, that's what I know, that's who I am. I am psyched and energized again. EUREKA!JOURNAL ENTRY NOVEMBER 22, 1991 - Science and Nature. A combination of the two and not one without the other. Surveying in the woods and out in a clear and glorious late fall day. I'm looking around at the stark gray trees standing against a bright blue sky. I'm listening to the Tuffed Titmice and Chickadees and thinking, "Wow, I'm getting paid for this and most of America only gets their free weekend time to do this for recreation." Deer hunters do this once a year, but I do it all year long. I love my job.
